Karate

The Penrose Park and Recreation District currently offers karate classes for both youth and adults. Taught by a certified instructor in our Penrose Station community building, classes for different ages and training levels are available at competitive rates. The park calendar showing the dates and times for the current session appears below. You may print, fill out and turn in a form using the link below or you may fill out the online registration form.

2024 Karate Classes

 

Mondays & Fridays

5:30pm-6:30pm:         Combined Class

                                             10yrs – 12yrs

                                             $56 /6 weeks

*Gi price based on size of Traditional uniform.

 

6:30-7:30pm:                Advanced Ranks/Adults                    13yrs & up

Waiver

I affirm that I am in good physical condition and health and enter into this course voluntarily. I understand that there will be physical contact with other students and instructors, and exercises to preform. I freely assume the risk of any injury that might occur and hold Penrose Park and Recreation District and the karate instructors harmless from responsibility for any injuries, unless it is due to gross negligence on the part of the instructor said school or district.

Terms, Conditions, Release & Wavier

Registration & Payment Policy

Registration forms must be recieved by Penrose Park & Recreational District ("PPRD") no later than ten days before a program starts in order for the student to participate. Full payment must accompany the participants application, unless other arrangements were made prior to class (monthly payments).

Cancellation Policy

In the event of low registration, classes may be cancelled. PPRD will make every attempt to give you as much notice as possible when cancelling an entire class program. If PPRD cancels a class program, a full credit or refund will be issued. On occasion a single class may be cancelled on short notice due to circumstances beyond our control, PPRD will make every effort to contact you about the cancellation and will take steps to make up the activity. This class has 2 make up dates in case there are any days that have to be cancelled.

Withdrawal Policy

A full refund is given if the participant withdrawals from the class at least 7 days prior to the start of the program. No refunds will be allowed after this time. For accountability purposes, no cash refunds can be made.


If you drop out of class, you will be responsible for the remaining amount due for the class/classes if any.

We, the participant's legal parent or guardian, hereby agree and acknowledge to the following:


(1) We give our approval to participate in any and all class's activities, including transportation to and from the activities (field trips).


(2) We have read and understood the PPRD policies, codes of conduct, and class rules and agree to abide by them.


(3) We recognize the inherent risk of serious or permanent physical injury and possible death associated with youth activities and games. Inconsideration for PPRD, it's affiliated organizations and sponsors, volunteers, their employees and associated personnel, including the owners classrooms and facilities utilized for the youth programs, against any claim, lawsuit or written demand, including but not limited to any claims for property loss, personal or physical injury or death, by or on behalf of the participant as a result of the student's participation in the youth programs and/or being transported to or from the same, which transportation we hereby authorize, whether or not the claim arises totally or partially from the negligence of the aforementioned actors.


(4) We authorize verification of the participant's date of birth and residence from legal records to be provided to a PPRD authorized representative for the limited purpose of verifying the PPRD participants age, identity, and residence.


(5) We consent to emergency medical care prescribed by a duly licensed Health Care provider or Dentist. This care may be given under whatever conditions are necessary to preserve the life, limb or participants wellbeing, and we hereby agree to be financially responsible for all costs associated with such treatments.


(6) We consent to PPRD taking photographs, video recordings, and/or sound recordings in documenting the activities of PPRD programs and services. We hereby grant PPRD and their affiliates permission to use the negatives, prints, video/audio tapings, or any other reproduction of the same for PPRD and its educational and promotional purposes in manuals, on flyers, the internet, or other publications.


We have read this release and Wavier of liability and fully understand its terms. We understand that we waive substantial rights by signing this form. We agree to waive all such rights above including the right to file a legal action or assert claim for personal or physical injury of any kind. We sign this release form of our own free will.
